THE LADIES SUPPER
The Ladies Supper was commissioned in 2015 by the Bird in Hand winery in Adelaide, Australia. The painting is a thirteen portrait all female version of the Last Supper on a 200 x1200 cm canvas consisting of three panels, which was originally designed to fit into the restaurant of the winery. A dinner was organised at the winery to bring all the subjects together, which was a opportunity for the artist to meet the ladies and find inspiration for the painting. The women are a collection of friends and family from the Bird in Hand winery with a diversity of ages represented. The painting explores women's role in creation and their contribution to a harmonious and peaceful society. The artist also included images of spirituality and sacred geometry in the background of the panels, on the far left a female figure with all the chakras illuminated, and on the far right the Vitruvian Man by Leornadi da Vinci, alluding to the author of the original painting. In other sections of the painting the Arabic and Chinese symbols for love can be seen.
